The National Federation of Pencak Silat Kenya (NFPSK) was officially established on 18 June 2021 with the mission of promoting, developing, regulating, and preserving Pencak Silat in Kenya in accordance with the principles and standards of the International Pencak Silat Federation (PERSILAT). Since its inception, the Federation has remained committed to advancing Pencak Silat as both a competitive sport and a vehicle for cultural exchange, youth empowerment, peace, and international friendship.
Despite being established during the challenging period of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Federation has achieved remarkable progress within a relatively short period. Through strategic partnerships with PERSILAT, the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Kenya, educational institutions, and local stakeholders, NFPSK has successfully introduced Pencak Silat across multiple counties, schools, universities, and communities throughout Kenya.
Dear Members and Families of the Global Pencak Silat Family, It is with great pride and a sense of profound responsibility that I welcome you to the official platform of the National Federation of Pencak Silat Kenya (NAFPESIK). We have embarked on a monumental task: transforming Pencak Silat from a cherished Indonesian traditional martial art into a dynamic, global martial arts sport.
Our mission is to convert the fundamental and technical forms of this ancient art into a structured sporting discipline, while nurturing professional world-class talents right here in Kenya. We are committed to raising global awareness of Pencak Silat—not just as a method of self-defense, but as a premier international sport.
In my journey as Founder & President, I am constantly surprised and deeply impressed by the unstoppable spirit and unwavering devotion of our Kenyan practitioners. Whether training in the heart of Nairobi at Muthurwa or in our county chapters, our athletes embody our core creed: "One Passion, One Dream." What began as a small martial arts club has matured into a true national sport and a cultural heritage embraced across the Republic of Kenya.
Today, as the official governing body, NAFPESIK serves as the central hub and pillar for the entire Kenyan Pencak Silat community. To maintain the essence and values of Pencak Silat while proactively responding to the changing times, we are committed to strengthening our strategic partnerships with:
The International Pencak Silat Federation (PERSILAT) Alazhar Martial Arts Indonesia, The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Nairobi, Our esteemed local and international sports organizations, institutions, and NGOs.
These collaborations are vital to improving NAFPESIK’s stability and ensuring sustainable growth. We refuse to be complacent with our past achievements. Instead, we will continue to pursue change and innovation relentlessly.
We ask for your continued encouragement and support as we strive tirelessly toward a higher future for Pencak Silat in Kenya and beyond our borders.
Thank you.
